The value of giving

‘We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.’ This quote by Winston Churchill reflects our mission at School Beyond Limitations.

Is it true that giving makes us feel happier, more excited, and more valued? Many empirical studies support this idea. When we give consciously to others, we feel better. We experience a sense of meaning. It shows us that, as individuals, we can make a difference in someone else’s life.

Helping someone has also been proven to raise a person’s self-esteem. It enhances how others perceive us. This can make people more likely to cooperate in the future.

When we talk to our students, we see their engagement during regular classes and club activities. Their willingness to take on leadership roles is inspiring. This deep willingness to give has truly penetrated our students’ hearts. They engage in various projects, constantly thinking about how to combine their energies to make their ideas work.

Students involved in business studies, the universe, creating new websites, journaling, visualizing, first aid, and more spread a spirit of caring, contributing, and sharing. They demonstrate that by giving, we receive, and we can make this world a better place.

We regularly witness the enthusiasm of SBL’s students and their strong desire to give.

It is extraordinary to see how this giving attitude impacts each individual. It fosters a sense of generosity and helps us realize that we can, as individuals and as a community, impact other people’s lives. This understanding shows us that we all share responsibility for what happens around us. As Winston Churchill puts it, we truly ‘make a life by what we give.’

Giving is proven to be a positive experience. As givers, we feel part of a community of like-minded individuals. We gain deep satisfaction—social scientists call it ‘a warm glow’—from giving and helping others. This creates a genuine positive impact on the world.

We will continue to celebrate the spirit of giving within the SBL community and beyond

This is what we do at School Beyond Limitations.
