The Four Types of Intelligence
Educational psychologists have made a significant discovery in recent years. They have identified an additional type of intelligence, expanding the traditional three acknowledged types. These types are:
- Intelligence Quotient (IQ):
This measures our ability to comprehend, solve math problems, memorise, and recall information. - Emotional Quotient (EQ):
This gauges our ability to harmonise with others, maintain peace, respect boundaries, and show humility. - Social Quotient (SQ):
This reflects our ability to build and maintain a lasting network of friends and associates.
Traditional Schools and the Focus on IQ
Interestingly, most traditional schools prioritise the development of IQ. They often overlook the importance of EQ and SQ in a student’s holistic growth. However, at **School Beyond Limitations (SBL)**, we take a different approach. While we help our students excel intellectually, we also emphasise the development of their emotional and social skills.
Introducing the Adversity Quotient (AQ)
In addition to IQ, EQ, and SQ, there is now a fourth type of intelligence—**Adversity Quotient (AQ)**. This new paradigm measures the ability to overcome challenges and bounce back stronger. At SBL, we are proud to lead the way in fostering AQ in our students.
Developing Resilience at SBL
Adversity Quotient lies at the heart of our daily practices. We empower students to develop resilience, enabling them to face any challenge with confidence. Our mission is clear:
*We do not prepare the road for our children; we prepare our children for the road.*
By focusing on AQ, we ensure our students grow into multi-faceted individuals. They leave SBL ready to embrace life as uniquely independent and resilient human beings.
This is what we do at School Beyond Limitations.
